Christian Education Coordinator: St John's UMC in Springfield, VA will hire a person to plan, initiate and oversee its Christian Education programs--children, youth and adult. Responsibilities encompass coordinating the volunteer-led weekly programs by laity, as well as special seasonal (Advent and Lent) programs. This position is part-time, requiring 20 hours weekly, commencing Sept., 2019. Compensation is paid at an hourly rate of $15.00 per hour. A degree is not a firm requirement if the applicant has demonstrated experience (Christian Education, United Methodist Studies, or similar religious education endeavors). Childrens' Worship: St John's UMC in Springfield, VA will hire a person ASAP to plan and conduct a weekly worship experience for children age four (4) years through (3rd) grade. Worship will include prayer, music, and an age-appropriate scriptural-based lesson/message. Creative use of drama, crafts, or other activity is encouraged to enhance learning. The position is part-time requiring three (3) hours weekly. Labor is evenly divided between preparing and conducting the Sunday morning worship. Compensation is paid at the hourly rate of $12.00. Applicants must be a minimum of 18 years old. Demonstrated experience in working with children, preferably in a formal environment (school, church, corporate daycare, etc.), is required. Lynbrook Elementary Fun fair

St. John's is hosting the 4th annual Back to School Fun Fair at Lynbrook elemantary on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at 2-4pm. and we once again will need help with this great outreach project. Volunteers are needed to help with games, cookies, setup and cleanup. There is a sign-up sheet by the church office!

CECE Anniversary

The 60th anniversary of the the Center for Early Childhood Education, the St. John's preschool is fast approaching. Save time on your calendars to participate. September 6th there will be a Friday Night Lights (Outdoor Funfair Anniversary Kick-off) event and September 8th there will be a Rededication, Luncheon and Open House.

Pass the dates to any former preschool friends, parents or staff you may know. More details will follow!

St. John's Day at Nationals Park

Saturday, september 14th will be St. John's Day at Nationals park. Join the fun as the Nationals take on the Atlanta Braves at 4:05pm. Tickets are $30 each. Order forms are available in Donaldson Hall. Forms and payment are due no later than July 28th. Additional information and instructions are on the order form. Carpools will be formed for those needing a ride.

Saturday, July 13th: Volunteering at Capital Area Food Bank in Lorton from 8:00-11:00am. Helping to re-stock the food pantry shelves and bag meals for shelters. Your help is greatly appreciated and this does count as community service hours.

This does count as community service hours.
